I trust you picked a winner or like me got up in your sweep and that you were not left on the platform on Oaks Day waiting for the trains that didn't run just like the horses we were backing. A reminder to us all that we should always have a back up plan irrespective of the event.

Welcome to the silly season - as we swing into November there are festivals and events all around us, our festive social calendar is filling up and a well-deserved Christmas break is just around the corner. Here in the office we are busy looking to secure preferred dates for client business events and conferences to re-boot 2009.

I must admit the sailing has been good since daylight saving started with some great sailing breezes making Wednesday a very relaxing break to the week. Our results have been mid fleet reflecting the more social aspect of daylight sailing and I need to find some time for the garden and those weeds.

$16 mil upgrade for Conrad Jupiters Gold Coast

Conrad Jupiters Gold Coast has just unveiled a $16 million refurbishment of it's hotel rooms, Lobby Bar, Reception and Business Centre, following a $53 million Casino refurbishment in 2006. Final touches are being completed to the Pavilion conference centre comprising 13 function rooms including the ballroom to accommodate 1,200 guests banquet style.

The Beachouse Boot Camp

The Beach House Boot Camp is a team building activity inspired by the unlikely combination of the Amazing Race, the DaVinci Code, Friday Night Live and Where's Wally? Groups are willingly taken out of their comfort zone as they band together and display resourcefulness and strategic capabilities. New Suburb for Melbourne

South Wharf, the site of Victoria's new Melbourne Convention Centre, has appeared for the first time as a new suburb on the latest edition of the UBD Melbourne street directory. The 'new suburb' is part of a A$1.4 billion development, to be transformed into a waterfront residential, retail and entertainment district including upscale restaurants and retail shops along the riverbank.

Second Pullman hotel in Australia

Accor has announced that it will launch its second Pullman hotel in Australia with the re-branding of the hotel at the Reef Casino complex to the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino on December 1st. Pullman is Accor's new 5-star brand and the announcement of the Cairns hotel comes at a time of major expansion for the brand, with new Pullman hotels set to launch in China, Malaysia and Indonesia. It also follows the debut of the brand in Australia in September, when Pullman Sydney Olympic Park opened.

$40 million refurbishment complete
