Hi,

Welcome to 2009 and we are into February already - the short break we enjoyed over the festive season now seems so long ago.

Here in Melbourne summer has truly arrived as we swelter through an extended heat wave. I'm writing this our first newsletter for 2009 early on Saturday morning trying to avoid the heat which among other things tends to melt the thinking process. Please forgive me if some of this newsletter makes no sense at all.

Since our last newsletter Pam and I attended the big conference/meetings trade show in Barcelona - EIBTM and managed to find a few days to visit friends in London and Amsterdam on the way home. On the way over I spent some time experiencing Macau and Hong Kong as conference destinations.

In tough economic times meetings and conferences are one of the first areas to be cut. This is reflected in feedback we are getting from conference venues and hotels right around the country. It also creates some competitive pressure and it is now no doubt a buyers market.

Regards

Jim Conway
