Hi,

It's hard to believe that it is February already; school's back and hopefully a good year ahead.

Last weekend Pam and I attended the International Association of Conference Centres Australia Copper Skillet competition where chefs from IACC member venues compete for a trip to USA for the international event. Congratulations to Mark Pilgrim from the Vue Grand at Queenscliff who is now off to represent Australia in Chicago at the end of March.

On the educational front we continue to schedule visits to conference and meeting venues with Rachel visiting TNQ late last year and you can read about her visit below.

Unfortunately I haven't had much time to hit the water and enjoy the sailing over the silly season but I am back on the water this Wednesday. I think we might be a bit rusty but I'll let you know how we get on.

Regards

Jim Conway

And it's not April 1 or is it?

Irish budget carrier Ryanair says its 'joke EUR1 toilet charge' could go ahead, with Boeing asked to develop a coin slot mechanism for aircraft toilets. It is understood the carrier would then encourage short-haul passengers to use terminal facilities ahead of flights and would remove some toilets in its aircraft, replacing them with seats.

William Angliss Institute is celebrating its 70th anniversary

To mark the milestone, the Institute will celebrate with students, industry and alumni throughout 2010. A new building launch and a special event for industry partners are amongst the activities currently being planned. An exhibition on-site at the Institute's main campus in Melbourne will demonstrate how its industries have changed and developed over the past 70 years. The Institute was established in 1940, when prominent Melbourne businessman Sir William Angliss donated funds to establish Australia's first trade college dedicated to the food industry.
